Megawatt Charging System

Reaching the megawatt

The Megawatt Charging System (MCS) is a new charging standard, allowing trucks and heavy machinery to be charged at much higher rates than previously possible. Currently the MCS is specified up to 1250V and up to 3000A, giving a theoretical maximum power level of 3.75 MW. While it is related to the CCS (Combined Charging System) in it’s use of the new ISO 15118-20 communication protocol, the physical form factor and communication interface are quite different. MCS also can only be used for DC charging. High level communication protocol is using single twisted pair automotive ethernet - 10BASE-T1S.

Unfortunately, the MCS standard is not published yet. However, we’ve developed a controller that already supports the necessary interface to make the MCS reality. So you can build a fully-featured MCS station long before the standard authorities finish the voting process. Yes, some things might change. But we are ready to support you on this journey, and provide both updated SW and updated HW as the standard reaches maturity.
