ADVANTICS proudly leads the integration of bidirectional charging technology, enabling EVs to not only charge from the grid but also feed energy back during peak hours to power homes and businesses.

This groundbreaking technology is deployed in the UK by Veolia, the UK’s largest waste collection fleet operator. ADVANTICS supplies both the SECC (Supply Equipment Communication Controller) of the chargers and the EVCC (Electric Vehicle Charge Controller) for the electric trucks, which are crucial for safe, efficient and compliant bidirectional charging.

At the core of this innovation is our advanced software implementation for the CCS ISO15118-20 standard, ensuring seamless communication between chargers and vehicles, thus making bidirectional charging a reality.

Additionally, our OCPP-enabled SECCs allow the charger to be monitored and controlled by the Charging Station Management System (CSMS) during bidirectional power transfer sessions. This integration provides optimized energy management by utilizing real-time data from chargers and vehicles, considering factors such as grid demand, energy prices, and individual vehicle needs.

The bidirectional trucks, powered by ADVANTICS’ EVCC and supporting CCS ISO15118-20, enable smooth energy exchange. Unlike bulky, rigid solutions, our EVCC offers flexibility and simplifies integration through a CAN bus-based API that abstracts the complexities of CCS -20 control modes, providing a clear and user-friendly interface.

Industry leaders collaborated with us to bring this project to life:

  • Veolia: UK’s largest waste collection fleet operator.
  • Turbo Power Systems (TPS): Designed and built the bi-directional charging station.
  • Magnetic Systems Technology Magtec: Developed the electric waste collection trucks.
  • Fuuse: EV charge point management software provider.

ADVANTICS is at the forefront of this exciting transition, developing the technology that empowers EVs to reach their full potential.
