ADVANTICS Proudly Shares High Efficiency Lab Test Results for SiC Active Front End (AFE)
In an exciting development for the power electronics industry, ADVANTICS is delighted to share the results from our recent laboratory tests of the ADVANTICS ADM-PC-BP25 Active Front End (AFE). Demonstrating peak rectifier AC to DC conversion efficiency of 98.9%.
Wide Band Efficiency and Power Quality
The tests revealed that our power electronics consistently achieve efficiencies greater than 98% for load factors above 10%. Even at just 1% load factor a 93% efficiency was achieved which speaks to the minimal switching loses of the system without the use of complex phase shedding control strategies.
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) below 5% is considered clean power or a pure sine wave. These test results demonstrated capabilities consistently below 3%, averaging around 2.5%, or twice as clean as the industry standard.
These results underscore ADVANTICS’ vision of delivering perfect power not just at a single datapoint but over the full operational range of the system. We understand that efficiency translates into reduced heat generation, minimized size and mass, and lower overall costs for system integrators.

The precision testing was conducted using a HIOKI PW8001 and PW9100A for High Precision Power measurements. The DC load was an ITECH IT7900P Regenerative Grid Simulator set to 700V DC. Power was sourced from the EU Grid at 400V/230V 3 Phase 50Hz. The Grid Simulator was used to control the load.
The Device Under Test (DUT) was ADVANTICS ADM-PC-LF45 Line Filter and ADM-PC-BP25 Series AFE (VA01/VA03/VA04/VA08). AFE was set to Rectifier Mode, 800V DC Setpoint.
