Unveiling True AC Paralleling: Transforming Microgrid Independency and Flexibility
The True AC Paralleling feature enables microgrids to perform a “black start,” or the ability to restore power without relying on external sources. This is crucial for maintaining power in isolated or emergency conditions where traditional grid support is unavailable.
As additional generation sources come online, True AC Paralleling facilitates seamless “AC Coupling,” ensuring smooth integration and efficient management of power resources. This is achieved through ADVANTICS’s sophisticated control strategy, delivering active and reactive power control (PQ) with real-time droop control logic that can be adjusted to make every system stable.
Robust Control and Limitless Scalability
Further driving microgrid innovation, True AC Paralleling prevents system strain by allowing for the transient start of motors, bringing them to speed with precision. It also can curtail distributed energy resources, such as solar/wind without any need for supplementary communications. Notably, this feature set introduces unlimited scalability, accommodating the growth and expansion of power systems to meet any customers requirements.
In a traditional microgrid with grid following inverters, if the device creating the base frequency and voltage were to fault it would cause a chain reaction that would take down the entire microgrid. The True AC Paralleling feature operates completely distributed, so if any single device were to fault the microgrid would continue operation. This strategy contributes to the system level resiliency of these distributed energy resources.
